A Letter To Conservative Christians Regarding The Mass Shooting in Orlando Last Night

Dear Friends,

This morning I woke to the horrible reality of the mass shooting last night in the Orlando Gay Bar Pulse. A bar I’ve never visited but a bar much like others in America I have.  CNN reported it as the “Worst U.S. Mass Shooting.” Huffington Post reported “Massacre…50 Dead… Worst in U.S. History.” CBS reported an “Islamic Terror Tie…50 Dead…53 Injured.”

To us, conservative Christians, waking up this morning heading to church, I opened up my Facebook Newsfeed and learned of the tragedy. I saw pictures. Posts. People Hugging. Crying. Blood Covered Walls.

But what struck me the deepest was a post by an acquaintanced seminarian of mine that linked to the CNN article and said:

“Sad but Got What They Deserved. #justice #genesis19”

To you Seminarian. I have many words. Not mean words. But words of deep concern and sadness. Primarily, for you as a human being…
